Here’s Our Story…..
Bury Rugby Club are keen advocates of health, fitness, nutrition & well-being in the community and are passionate about projecting this core message to children, adults and the elderly. We are active in supporting local charities through our facilities and the experience we possess. We work with them in achieving fun and exciting events that promote themselves, but also help to invest in community spirit at a time when communities are dying and local funds are limited. As an example of this we worked with St Nicholas hospital last year and raised over £130,000 and we continue to support them through 2015 by hosting events at our grounds.
We also support 35 football clubs on our all- weather pitch, have on-site gym facilities for the general public and external coaches visiting up to 89 schools in the region promoting sport, fitness and nutrition to a range of children from differing back grounds. Plus we run a successful O2 Touch programme encouraging (non-contact rugby) males, females and families of differing ages playing together in a fun environment promoting health and sport in the community through the ages.
We have a robust coaching link within the local air cadet squadron, culminating in the annual Sportivate Cup being held at our grounds. 220 children participated from 24 different air cadet squadrons across the Eastern Counties.
Which means that we are a sports organisation that realises and understands the importance of the local community; whether it be by:
• Directly supporting the sick and elderly through combined local charity work
• Getting creative and making physical education not only fun, but a transitional process covering a number of core subjects
• Supporting local organisations with their marketing plans
• Creating social events rugby and non-rugby orientated for families
Because we believe that a “rising tide lifts all boats”. The work that we carry out brings people together, promotes happiness and thus leads to a successful community through the ages with regard to education, employment, health & general well-being.
